History: Art Avogadro was always a little different. A little too keenly interested in his mother's clothes. A little too interested in sneaking glances at other boys' asses in the locker rooms. One of his band mates discovered Art in the sack with a guy from down the hall. That was Art's thirteenth beating. And the end of the group. (Art didn't really mind that part; they hadn't been very good.) At this point, Art said "fuck it all" and came out in flamboyant fashion. He ditched his metal wardrobe into a fire and went on a shopping spree -- in the women's department. He dated men openly. He tried out for the female lead in the university's spring musical. He danced. He sang. He bought all of Judy Garland, Barbara Streisand and Bette Midler's musicals. Immersed himself in gay culture. The drag scene. Transformed himself and renamed himself. Decided to play to his strengths. Angel Avogadro made her premiere at a skanky New York club in the 1990s at age 20. She was met with a smattering of applause and a few loud, derisive boos. Angel kept her job by sleeping with the owner. The past 16 years have been two steps forward, one step back. She has a headlining job at a cabaret with a good reputation. She loves it. She's lost too many friends to disease and drugs. She hates that. She's been lucky and managed to stay clean. Loves it. She's never found The Love of Her Life. Hates it. The audience adores her.
